has gloss	nld: Gannef ook wel gespeld als gannew, gannif of ganf is een oorspronkelijk Hebreeuws woord (גַּנָּב), dat via het Jiddisch (gannew, uit te spreken als ĝannew) en daarna het Bargoens in het Nederlands terecht kwam. Gannef betekent dief, schelm of schavuit, met name als schimpwoord bedoeld. Het meervoud gannowem of gannofem is minder in gebruik.
