has gloss	eng: Jamdani is a fabric of fine cotton muslin of Bengali origin, with colored stripes and patterns. In the first half of the nineteenth century, James Taylor described the figured or flowered jamdani; in the late nineteenth century, T. N. Mukharji referred to this fabric as jamdani muslin. Whether figured or flowered, jamdani is a woven fabric in cotton, and it is undoubtedly one of the varieties of the finest muslin. It has been spoken of as the most artistic textile of the Bangladeshi weaver. Traditionally woven around Dhaka and created on the loom brocade, jamdani is fabulously rich in motifs.

has gloss	ben: জামদানি কার্পাস তুলা দিয়ে প্রস্তুত একধরনের সূক্ষ্ম বস্ত্র। প্রাচীনকানের মিহি মসলিন কাপড়ের উত্তরাধিকারী হিসেবে জামদানি শাড়ি পরিচিত। মসলিনের উপর নকশা করে জামদানি তৈরি করা হয়। জামদানি বলতে সাধারনত শাড়িকেই বোঝান হয়। তবে জামদানি দিয়ে নকশী ওড়না, কুর্তা, পাগড়ি, রুমাল, পর্দা প্রভৃতিও তৈরী করা হত। ১৭০০ শতাব্দীতে জামদানি দিয়ে নকশাওয়ালা শেরওয়ানির প্রচলন ছিল। এছাড়া মুঘল নেপালের আঞ্চলিক পোষাক রাঙ্গার জন্যও জামদানি কাপড় ব্যবহৃত হত।
