Sie bilden neben den All England Law Reports die wichtigste Sammlung englischen case laws; sie sollen jedoch im Gegensatz zu letzteren in offiziellen Dokumenten vorrangig zitiert und bilden somit die quasi-offizielle Urteilssammlung Englands und Wales'.
