has gloss	eng: The Intel 8748 is a member of Intel MCS-48 family of 8-bit microcontrollers. It was originally released in 1976. The 8748 microcontroller has on-chip clock oscillator, 2 8-bit timers, 27 I/O ports, 64 bytes of RAM and 1 KB of EPROM. It is largely superseded by more modern microcontrollers such as the 8051. A version with 2KB EPROM was also available under the 8749 number.
